"Evan was great! I immediately got in the massage zone once he started. The massage was very comfortable and he checked in every time an area needed more pressure to make sure he wasn't adding too much (which I requested). After the massage I felt very relaxed and happy, and the next day I not only felt looser and better in my body, but I also felt calmer and more focused mentally like there was less clutter."

Ev (he/they) is a Licensed Massage Therapist in Portland, Maine. Before this chapter of wellness, Ev’s varied journey brought him through studying Fashion Design in Boston to exploring his subconscious mind via Vipassana meditation to experiencing life's twists and turns living abroad in Australia. Then, after a serendipitous encounter in Puerto Rico, his path led him back to Maine, where he found his calling in fitness, wellness, space making, and collectively, healing.
Ev believes that an important part of our continuous healing journey is about re-learning how to feel safe in our bodies. Through activation of our Sympathetic Nervous System with fitness and a return to self through bodywork (activating the Parasympathetic Nervous System), we strengthen our practice of feeling safe through ups and downs; something we can then take with us into our daily lives.
Ev holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Fashion Design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and grew up in Kennebunk, Maine. When not teaching a cycling class, kettlebells, or working with massage clients, Ev is a skilled leatherworker, passionate advocate for his queer community, proud cat-dad/roommate to Avocado, and avid solo-traveler.

Therapeutic Massage is tailored to the specific goals and needs of each individual client.
Bodywork modalities utilized in session vary but are usually a combination of Myofascial Release, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Range of Motion, and Assisted Stretching. Hot towels, hot stones, and cupping are also effective tools to enhance a session based on the needs of the client and how their body responds to the work in the moment.
Myofascial Release is used to warm tissue, ease into relaxation, and open the body up to receive any needed deeper work.
Swedish Massage is used to create flow through the session and calm the nervous system.
Deep Tissue uses deep strokes with moderate to heavy pressure; and is commonly used to target problem areas, assist in relieving chronic pain and muscle tension, improve range of motion, and focus on outcomes from the session. Clients should expect “productive discomfort” during a session including deep tissue work.
Trigger Point Therapy uses deep targeted pressure to create an ischemic effect on muscle knots. Once released, fresh blood and nutrients floods the area allowing muscle to relax and aiding muscle knots work towards release.
Range of Motion and Assisted Stretching is used as both an assessment tool as well as guiding stretches that a client can generally perform at home as part of a self-care practice. Consistent stretching helps to mobilize, warm, and lubricate tissues; it’s optional homework between body work appointments meant to empower clients to take care of their bodies between bodywork sessions.
